Vrael sat in a pub, in the southern port known as Aroughs. He was in a corner of the room, wearing a cloak which covered his face, incase he were to meet anyone he did not wish to. Silently, he watched the humans come and go, minding their own buisness. Something then caught Vrael from the corner of his eye. He had sworn he saw a sorcerer, or some magic weilder, but as he looked around, he saw no one. Just the peasents and soldiers getting drunk, and partying, not having a care in the world.
As Vrael took a sip from the drink that was laid before him, he sensed someone, someone who infact did use and practice magic. However, he could not discover their identity, or where their loyalties laid. His eyes darted from one side of the room to the other, without success. Finaly, he sensed the being gradualy move closer. With his right hand on his sword, Vrael waited, and waited until they finaly had made their way to him.

Arlette slowly approached the man sat at the small table in the corner of the busy pub. She had sensed a being with the ability to wield magic, and as a new rider she knew she must learn to use it. She knew what she wanted to accomplish by talking to this man, but she had no idea if her plea would be accepted.
Brought up living by her sword, Arlette had ignored the magic that ran in her veins. She had discovered so far how to create a fire, but that was the extent of her knowledge. She now had no choice but to leanr how to harness her skill. She sensed that this man's power was far greater thasn her's, and longed to leanr more about him. For she did not meet someone with such powers every day. With her newly-hatched dragon chick curled up asleep inside her backpack, she nervously approached the man.
"Excuse me?" she asked warily. "Do you mind if I join you?" She prayed that Vanilor, her dragon, would not wake up. She had not intended to visit such a public place, but the essence of this man's power had drawn ehr here. She waited for his reply, planning to judge her next move on how he reacted.

Vrael looked up at her, his face still shaded behind his cloak. He then replied, "No, I don't mind." He didn't dare try and search her mind for who she was, so he instead asked, "What's you name?" He took another sip from his drink, and then finished it off, giving it to the waiter passing by. If she were to be from the empire, he would find an excuse to leave, but if her loyalties and intentions were for good purposes, then he would speak with her.

She smiled curiously at the hooded stranger, and said, "I'm Arlette Halider." She hesitated, not knowing whether to reveal that she supported the Varden. "I'm from Surda," she said at last. A lie, but one that would only imply that she supported the group who so openly rebelled against Galbatorix.
She wondered who this man was. He sparked off a degree of interest that meant she was reluctant to leave without knowing anything, but she was unsure how to approach him. "May I ask who you are?"

Vrael did not answer for a moment, trying to recal if he had heard the name before. Finding nothing, and then answered, "My name is Vrael. I am from," He thought for a second before continuing, "the Beor Mountains." It was somewhat true, but he didn't exactly live in Farthen Dûr, but he did visit from time to time.
He then felt a presence in his head, urging its way in. Finally Vrael gave in to it, for it had turned out to only be Gath. Why did you lie?
Vrael then responded, Because, she said she was from Surda. Not where in Surda, just Surda. She could have said Aberon, but if I asked what Reavestone was, she probably wouldn't know, unless she were of great importance in the Empire. Also, couldn't you sense her tone of voice, she's probably lieing.
Gath's only response was, You everreact sometimes.
Before Vrael could respond to this comment, he felt Gath's presence leave his mind. HE then turned his attention back to Arlette(?).
OOC - The (?) means he's not sure, incase you didn't know what it meant.

Arlette's eyes widened. "The - the beor mountains?" She said in barely more than a whisper. The name, 'Vrael', that sounded familiar too... "I wasn't aware that many humans lived there. Apart from some who I believe to be members of an - ah - a certain group?"
She hesitated. She was unsure how to continue. Although the pub was reasonably empty, there was a group of rowdy soldiers partying in the corner, and she had no wish for the situation to turn foul. "Your - your magic seems to be quite strong." She stammered on. "Please, tell me, where did you learn to master your skill?"

Vrael did not know how to answer this. He had learned from his mentor, of course, but he couldn't say that. It would be too obvious of who he was. Thinking for a moment on his reply, he finally responded, "From traveling. I have traveled many years, from the furthest part of the empire, to the heart of the Beor Mountains. Since I've been to so many places, I pick things up. I also am not as young as I may seem to you, so I have had quite some time to practice the skill of magic, as well as fighting combat."
It had been partialy true. He infact had traveled to those places, and learned of the many cultures, including that of the dwarves and elves, but he left out the part that he had been to Doru Araeba. He wondered if she even knew of the place, since Galbatorix hadn't let many of his pupils learn of it, or its past. In fact, few citezens of the empire even knew of the time when the Riders controlled Alagaësia.

Arlette looked thoughtful. The heart of the Beor mountains...
She stiffened as she felt Vanilor stirring in her bag. The little dragon could get her into a lot of trouble; she had to do something, and she had to do it now. "Listen," She said in a soft voice, dropping to the chair beside the man Vrael. Her whole body was tense, ready to run if need be. "I need to find a group called the Varden..." She left it at that, she body twisted like a cat's in the corner of her seat as she waited for his reaction.

Vreal looked down at the table for a moment, and he smiled for a second before returning his gaze to Arlette. He then asked, "For what purpose are you searching them out for? I could tell you of them, where they are, but why do you want to know?"
He thought he felt someone try to tap into his mind, but he blocked them out, and returned to what he was saying.
"Without an answer to my question, I can tell you nothing of them."

Arlette could have thrown her arms around the man for not reacting in a violent fashion - but to do so would have been inappropriate, so she contented herself with a smug smile and a little hop on the spot. It sounded like he was protecting the Varden. Surely that meant he would do her no harm if her knew of her desire to alliege herself with them - in an official sense?
She dug her elbow into her bag as she felt Vanilor move again, and froze as her mind sparked for a moment as Vanilor tried to probe the mind of Vrael. Stop it! she thought to him, horrified that her little dragon would even attempt to dp such a thing. As much as she loved the creature, he was proving more difficult to handle than she had anticipated.
"Please," she said at last, still not moving from her tense position, "I wish to find a tutor with them... I believe... I believe they can help me."

Vrael thought a moment, going over what she had said. After a time of concideration, he responded, "As long as you aren't lieing, I can lead you to them. But before that happens, I would need to search your mind. It wont help them at all if I were to lead the enemy to their doorstep without them knowing so. You should understand why?"
He again thought. A tutor. What would she need to learn? Unless she is entirely new to fighting and all this stuff, why would she need to learn things. She's an elf, and it's possible she's older than many of the adults in Farthen Dûr. He then waited for her response to allowing her mind being searched.

((Just so ya know, Arlette doesn't look like an elf yet ;D))
Arlette gesitated. If he searched her mind, then he would find out about Vanilor. But if he was allied with the Varden, did that matter? It seemed that she had little choice but to trust him. Please, Vanilor, she thought to her dragon, If he tries to hurt me, help me to expel him from my mind. She did not expect a reply from the stubborn little creature, but to her surprise he responded with a thoughtful, Yes. And then added, But I don't believe he means us any harm.
"Sure..." She said to the stranger, and waited for the invasion of her mind to commence.

OOC - Oh, I'm so sorry. I forget sometimes, whose a human rider, and whose an elfin rider.
IC - Vrael nodded his head, and felt the presence of Gath outside the town of Aroughs. Vrael frowned and then contacted Gath. What are you doing? You'll get yourself killed if you enter the city!
Gath's response was, Don't worry. I'm not that stupid. I just came to see how you were.
Vrael responded in an annoyed tone, Oh, I'm just wonderful. Yup, just sitting here watching all the little butterflies flying around my head. He paused for a moment thinking about his words. I'm sorry. You just shouldn't be here.
Gath then said in return, I'm leaving now, so don't fret.
Vrael returned his attention back to Arlette and he said, "Very well. All I need is a minute or two to search your mind. Don't worry, if I find anything private, I'll leave it alone. Ok?"

OOC - It's no problem! quite a few people have already forgotten she's human XD and on most eragon rpgs, riders tend to be elves
IC -
Arlette stiffened in her chair, gripping the wood tightly so that her knuckles grew white and her palms grew red and sore. She felt a bead of perspiration run down her neck. She was unsure wh yshe was so worried about someone searching her mind; she had nothing to hide - except Vanilor. But she was proud to be a rider, and it seemed that this man supported the Varden. She knew she could flee if necessary, but still...
She was eager to get this over with. She gazed musingly out of the window, admiring the great billows of cloud that looked like a giant silvery cloth draped over the sky. The moon lit up the outside, turning everything it touchd to silver, and the shadows streaked like black watercolour across the ground, looking like long fingers stretching away from the owners they were cast from.
"OK," She smiled weakly. "Go ahead." She licked her lips and forced herself to let go of her chair. Rubbing them together to try and restore some of the feeling to her fingertips, she cautiously relaxed her mind.
