In the dark of the towering canopy. A dark copper haired girl sat on a mossy log her head in her hands. Her dark silver sword lying upon her knees. Stray tears running down her cheek as the days events rushed through her. Not six hours ago the horde of Urgals had attacked her home , killed her family , friends every she had grown up with , gone. She could still hear the screams and the evil glint in the shade's eye , the one that was leading them. They were searching for somthing but she did'nt know what. All she knew the empire truley needed it and they would stop at nothing. She could'nt help her family and they were all killed. The dark blood red wound she had earned from the fight still was bourne upon her shoudlers the skin just sealed together but left a curved scar that she knew would stay with her forever. The visions of her family still passed across her vision , yet that was not the end of it. Erin was born to a elven mother fifteen years ago , she had matured faster than the others and she looked nothing like an elf. She looked , human. But in the fight the shade has killed her father and announced he had killed a human rider. The words still scored through Erin like it was the moment they had just torn from the shade's lip's. Human ,she was different to the other elves , she was only half elf . The world she had grown up in made no sence anymore , what she had belived in was confused and hazy.
Why did'nt they tell me? she thought.
She looked up from her crouched position and found dew on the moss. The cold night air bit at her skin viciously but she ignored it. Even inside she was cold , cold and knumb . She would never belive it. Her whole family , all her friends , all she knew , gone.
Anger coursed through her. Only one thing for it . ' I will go to the varden to help get the murderous dogs get whats coming for them '. she thoguh anglrily stabbing the dark earth with her dark silver blade. She seathed it wincing slightly as her belt brushed against her wounded shoudlers. She cupped her hands around her lips and a sweet elven tune echoes around her. With a whinny a beautiful intense black stallion cantered into the clearing his warm breath could be seen billowing from his nostrils. Erin mounted the proud warhorse bareback and instructed him with her mind. Thor reared as he learnt of the deaths but soon calmed and galloped through the dark forest silent as a shadow. Erin's determination and anger surged through her to him as he charged through the outer woodlands of Du Weldenvarden.
Thor slowed as the smell of freshly burnt timber hit their nostrils. Walking forwards Erin pushed past the straggled plants revealing a dirt road. In the centre the remains of a brunt carridge still smoked slightly but the flames were long burnt out. . She saw the royal red markings and snorted . The empire....
She walked cautiously forwards towards the wreckage and was about to move one of the ashen doorframes when she heard a twig snap. Quick as a flash she had her sword unseathed and she had spun round to meet the unknown.......

Cien sniffed the air. There was a charred smell, like a bonfire, but Cien felt that she didn't want to know what was roasting. She had heard many gory rumours concerning the Urgals and other forms of violence recently... and they seemed to be on the increase. She beagn to wonder if she should take another route. Deciding against it, she continued on, humming silently in her mind a song of happier times.
Suddenly, she came across the source of the smell. A burnt carrige was obstructing the road and there seemed to be a survivor... or not. The girl near it did not seem like a former occupant of the carrige. She seemed... different somehow. Out of curiosity, Cien stepped forward and stepped on a twig. Inwardly groaning she leapt back as the girl spun around and held out her hands in defence. She lowered her hood. "I'm not going to hurt you in anyway..."

ooc:I'm hoping to be able to become a rider and find the dragon egg in the rubble if that's ok with you, because i wanted to rp her finding it. It's all straightened out with Vrael and e says it's ok once I pass the test you don't mind do you? Erin's penetrating dark silver eye's clasped on the girl. Her hands firm around the pommel of the sturdy , dark silver sword. Her dark silver eye's taking in every feature especially her weapons. Spying two curved swords Erin brushed her conciousness against the strangers subconciously. Finding no hurtful intentions she seathed her sword. Erin's wild elf features showed only through her stunning eyes , but the rest seemed human. Erin took this to her advantage and hid her true strength. Struggling to keep the elven greeting from her lips she nodded to the girl. ''Seems the empire had an unfortuante accident'' she said nodding towards the embers of the carridge with slight humour in her voice. ''My name is Erin , What is your calling ? '' she asked her smooth voice .

ooc: Sure, it's fine with me. All the best in your test! "I'm Cien."she replied, somewhat shortly. Something about Erin made her feel as if there was more than what was on the surface. Especially her eyes. 'Strange,' thought Cien, 'She looks human, but...' However, she decided not to probe further, seeing that she had already put Erin on her guard. "I'm sorry I startled you. I was only passing by." Cien noted the scar on the girl's back and the look in her eyes. "I'll be on my way soon, but before that, do you need any help?"

Ooc: Thanks I'll need it Erin settled deciding it was very unlikley the girl would attack. Even if she did Erin beleived she could dodge her , but , as she very well knew , appearances could be deceiving. The scar across the back of her shoulder was still damb and sore , it felt hot and sticky so Erin decided she best change the bandaging soon. '' Nice to meet you Cein , it's no probelm , you only caught me off guard.I have a few things on my mind I'd rather not have.'' she said her smooth voice showing the smallest fraction of what could be called anger but it was not directed at Cien. ''No , I'm quite able to take care of the things I need doing at the time'' she said with a smirk. ''Just tryng to figure out what happened here'' she said turning away from Cien for the first time to look upon the rubble. ''Where are you headed ? '' Erin asked curiously as she began to push a few charred pieces of wood away frim the wreckage.

'Where am I headed? That's a good question,' thought Cien, smiling inwardly. Though other travellers may have had preplanned journeys, she had never for the most part thought about her destination before she reached it. And this was just one of those times...
Cien shrugged vaguely and pointed off into the distance. "Down this road, I suppose... to wherever that suits my fancy." She walked up to the burnt remains, and suddenly remembered something. Turning to Erin, she nodded towards the blackened heap. "Were-...are there any survivors?"

Erin smirked slightly. '' I know what you mean. When something strikes you, you just go the road before you '' she said.
Erin's dark silver eye's; the only lead to her elf side, looked to the girl as the slight worry entered her voice. Erin pushed aside some of the ruble and looked for tracks.
Sighing she said '' There are no tracks leading from the carridge. It is an empirian carridge anyway. What troubles you? '' she asked Cien slightly concerned.

Cien turned away for a moment. The thought of it...
"I was just wondering. Maybe...they burned the occupants alive."
It was not the first time she had witnessed such a thing. Whole cities being destroyed, people being killed mercilessly, regardless of who they were, the flames lighting up the night sky.
Fire.
Burning the remains was the easiest way of destroying any budding vengeance. The victims were the children, the sick, the old. Few who could escape would lose all thought of anyone but themselves in their terror, for fear of being consumed by the heat and the pain that brought death. It took only a few hours to raze down a city that had taken years to build.
And what of it?
Cien became grim. She had walked through what was left of those cities, seeing the bodies of those burnt, trying to help those who had survived, trying to relieve them of their pain in their last few hours. But what could she do? Only one person, only two hands. She couldn't defend them against their destroyers. She couldn't put out the fire that burned them.
She sighed. What a bad aftertaste. That sort of thing wouldn't go away forever. It was better for her to remember it anyway. To remember those who had no one else to remember them.
She turned back. "I guess there isn't anything that can be done anymore."

Erin's heart nearly jumped out of her chest as she mentioned the fire. But hours ago most of her family were burnt alive by the shade and urgals . The horrible images racked Erin's heart like poison. She felt a sob try to choke her but she kept it down by biting her lip. She was worried her eye's would show the furious grief. She cleared her throat and concetrated on the scavenge.
'' If so , no , we can't do a thing. Just see if there's any clues in here.'' she said trying to cover the fury.
With one clear leap she jumped n top of the charred carridge and over to the other side. She began to move the carred woods happy the splinters bloodied her hands sending wincing pain up her arms , anything to distract her.

Cien was startled. Erin's rapid change seemed almost desperate. 'Did I say too much?' she thought, 'I should have been more tactful.' It was the same pain as the one that she saw in the eyes of the remaining people who watched their homes burn down to the last splinter... with their loved ones still inside.
She walked over and bent down. It seemed as though Erin was trying hard to control herself. "Please-...I'm sorry. Please don't hurt yourself anymore."

p[;Erin cussed in her mind as Cien realised she was upset at somthing. She smiled warmly at Cien.
''No, Don't apoplogise , it was'nt your fault. '' she said .Erin yelped as a splinter went deep into her wrist. She pulled it out and before she could stop herself took the magic and spoke '' Weize heil '' the wound instantly healed with the magic.. Shocked that she had done it without thinking she grabbed a rag that was caught on the side of the charred wood. She began to mop the blood up but stopped as somthing fell out of the rag she was holding. A royally marked wooden box that had a monsterous lock on its front. Erin forgot about her bleeding wrist and looked at the box with curiousity.Picking it up and putting it on her lap she began to examine it. '' It looks strong enough to stop and Urgal...what do you suppose is in it?'' she asked examinining the box

Cien stared at the box. Something like that could only hold a very important item. She completely forgot the fact that Erin had said something... unexpected. She came to get a closer look. "Amazing. This lock... you could take years just trying to pick it open, and then you wouldn't succeed. Who could manage to get one of these?"
Cien glanced around her. "Maybe there's a key somewhere... but before that," she held out a strip of cloth and a small vial, "would you like a bandage? This," she shook the vial, "will take away the pain and stop the bleeding."

Erin frowned. Then looked at the wreckage. Picking up the rag she saw it was made of fine cloth.
'' A king '' she said putting it down. She looked up to Cien and wiped the blood fom her arm revealing that there was no longer a wound. '' It's ok I'm fine '' she said thinking Cien had'nt heard her use magic.
''Erm..no it's ok I'll manage'' Erin decided to use her mind to try and open the box. She closed her eyes and concetrated. Suddenly a stabbing pain burst in her skull and the barley sealed wound over the back of her shoudlers burst firey red and pain seared through her. Erin fell to her knees panting, feeling the irritated red wound on her shoulders wince and throb.
''Damb, that's protected by magic '' she said standing up and letting the box stay where it had landed infront of her. ''Whatever it is. It's damb near impossible to reach'' she said kneeling down and concentrating on a way of opening this box.

Cien jumped as Erin dropped the box. "Are you alright?" she asked. Her concern overruled her self-scolding as she kicked herself for not remembering that opening such a powerful seal would be dangerous. She almost reached out to help Erin when she stopped. Such a move might put her on her guard again. Cien turned back to the box.
All of a sudden, Cien felt her skin prickle. It seemed strange. Such a box abandoned here? What was going on?

Erin sighed. ''Yeah I'm fine , but I'm sure my shoulders are'nt '' she added as she felt a hot trickle of blood run slowly down her back. Erin looked back and saw the blood running down the back of her arm. Cursing lowly she took off her seath but kept it nearby and pulled off her jerkin. Annoyed at this wound that would'nt even heal with magic she walked to the nearby stream and washed the blood from her.Erin knelt and looked into the water and saw her reflection fro the first time since the attack. Her face had pointed slightly looking slightly more elvish. But no one who had'nt known her from the very begining would notice the elfishness of her features. The only stunning show of her elf half was her beautiful dark silver eyes. So sparkling and full of magic and wisdom. Erin gasped as she saw them. Two dark pits of burning fury and animal instincs glared back at her in her reflection.
Erin walked back to the wreckage her seath buckled back to her belt and wounds wrapped in bandages. She picked up the small chest again and inspected the pick. Casting an eye into the hole she saw thousands of pins. This would take great skill and patience to open. Of which Erin had neither.
Se sighed and put it down..She whisled and the Midnight black stallion troted over to her and nuzzled her. She took off the food pack and took a pack of dried meat from them.
Taking a peice Erin held the pack out to Cien offereing her some.
